Christmas Market in Frankfurt

Standard

In mid-December we left Canada, which began our one-year sabbatical – time to spend with family in Slovakia and to explore the world, mostly Asia and some more of Europe.

We arrived in Frankfurt, Germany’s financial city, which seemed very industrial and boring the first afternoon we walked around. The next day we strolled along the river through a park with funky trees and found the city centre decorated with a 120-year-old Christmas tree. Along with it Frankfurt’s Christmas market! And what a delightful sight that was – one of the prettiest Christmas markets I’ve seen. Merry-go-rounds and colourful stalls with Christmas ornaments, mulled wine, sausages and other yummy treats along the pedestrian areas. And for a gorgeous view of the city I’d recommend climbing a tower. 🙂
